Rejuvenating Photo Facial

Collagen Induction Therapy

A photofacial is a generic term for a skin treatment that uses some form of light-based technology. The two main types of photofacials rely on LED (light-emitting diode) and IPL (intense pulsed light) to treat skin concerns. Generally, when people refer to photofacials, they’re talking about IPL photofacials, which are also called intense pulsed light therapy, photo rejuvenation, BBL therapy, or broadband light therapy.

IPL photofacial is a non-invasive, non-ablative treatment that uses high-intensity pulses of visible light to improve skin conditions such as fine lines, freckles, age spots and rosacea. Further benefits include:

  • Skin Rejuvenation

  • Skin Tightening

  • Lessen light facial redness

  • Reduce enlarged pores

  • Healthier complexion and appearance to the skin

 Anti-ageing effects.

Stimulates the fibroblast cells that create collagen. As we grow older these fibroblasts diminish, collagen reduces and structure weakens resulting in wrinkles. Therefore the Skin Rejuvenation treatment, after stimulating the collagen, gives an amazing overall treatment that tightens the skin and decreases very fine lines. It smoothes the skins texture. Both the face and body can be treated and is fantastic on the back of the hands..

Reduces enlarged pores.

Due to it's tightening effect on the skin IPL is an excellent treatment to help close enlarged pores.

Reduces facial redness.

IPL is naturally drawn to red pigment, therefore can be used to lessen light facial redness for Rosacea skin types and those with thread veins.

 Improves Sun Damage

IPL is also naturally attracted to melanin and so can be used to help reduce sun damage.

There is no downtime post-treatment but it is recommended that an SPF 50 be worn after treatments for the duration of your course.

Recommendations are a course of 6 treatments, spaced at 4 weekly intervals, treatments can then be extended to every 8 weeks for general maintenance (or even once, twice a year).

Treatments are sold in courses of 3 and 6 at a discounted price.

AM I SUITABLE FOR TREATMENT?

Suitable for, up to and including a Fitzpatrick skin type 4.

Beautiful U requires you to complete a short Medical Questionnaire before you commence any laser or IPL treatments. This will be emailed to you prior to your initial consultation, which allows time to check your suitability, Some conditions or medications prohibit you from laser treatments and would be unsafe for you at that time. It is important for the effectiveness of the treatment that you are generally fit and well and that your immune system is not compromised.

Common medications that may cause photosensitivity can include but are not limited to: Antibiotics Antidepressants Antihistamines Antihypertensives Antiparasitics Antipsychotics Contraceptives Diuretics Hypoglycaemics NSAID and Retinoids. The medical questionnaire will ask you to list any medications inc dosage.

It is not uncommon to request you obtain GP authorisation before treatment can go ahead for some conditions or medications.

During the consultation, the treatment will be discussed fully and a series of 3 small patch tests (at various energies) will be carried out, enabling the correct parameters to be established and check your skin's tolerance to light. Full treatment can then commence 3-14 days later following no adverse reactions.
